Lumera Pigment Reset: Dark Spot Serum
Five clinically studied brightening actives, niacinamide, azelaic acid, kojic acid, hexylresorcinol and resveratrol, working on pigment from different angles, in one serum.
Pigment has five weak points. This targets all of them.
Dark spots form along a chain: UV and inflammation trigger the enzyme tyrosinase, melanin is made, then transferred to surface skin cells where it lingers. Most serums hit one link. Lumera hits several at once: kojic acid, hexylresorcinol and azelaic acid slow tyrosinase; niacinamide blocks the transfer of pigment into skin cells; gluconolactone gently lifts pigmented surface cells; and resveratrol, green-tea and shiitake extracts neutralise the oxidative stress that starts the chain. Supporting ingredients, atelocollagen, chondroitin, pomegranate and grapeseed oils, keep the formula comfortable enough for daily use.
Sun spots are the receipt for every outdoor season
Years of long runs, rides and matches in the sun add up on your face as dark patches and old marks that never quite faded. Lumera is built for exactly that: five brightening actives that work on pigment from different angles at once, which is how dermatologists actually treat stubborn spots. Put it on at night, wear sunscreen by day, and let it chip away at what the seasons left behind. One honest rule, if you skip the SPF the sun will out-pace the serum, so the two go together.
Studied, not just marketed
The brightening category is full of hype. These actives have been tested against the prescription gold standard.
Summaries describe published research on the ingredient, not on this specific product. Individual results vary.
Even skin is quiet competence
Uneven tone and dark marks are the kind of thing you stop noticing on yourself while everyone else notices first. If your face is in meetings and on camera, an even complexion does quiet work for you. Lumera is a combination corrector, the approach that actually moves stubborn pigment, in a single nightly step. It layers under everything, leaves no colour or shine, and asks only that you pair it with morning sunscreen. Give it eight to twelve weeks; pigment turns over slowly, and the change is the kind people register without knowing why.
Why Dr. Elizabeth stocks this
"Patients with stubborn spots usually arrive having tried one ingredient at a time. The approach that works in practice is combination, and this is the most complete over-the-counter combination I've found. Two honest notes: it contains fragrance, so patch-test if you are sensitive; and none of it matters without daily sunscreen, because sun will undo brightening faster than any serum can build it."
What to expect
Patch-test first. Apply a small amount to clean, dry skin morning and night; follow with moisturiser and, by day, SPF 30+. Mild tingling on first uses is normal; persistent redness is not.
Pigment turnover is slow. The clinical trials on niacinamide and hexylresorcinol measured results at 8-12 weeks, expect spots to look lighter and tone more even in this window.
Keep going and keep up the SPF. Brightening is maintained, not finished.
The details
Ingredients, suggested use & label facts
Lumera Pigment Reset is a multi-active dark spot serum that works on pigment from five directions at once. Kojic acid, hexylresorcinol and azelaic acid slow the enzyme that makes excess pigment; niacinamide blocks its transfer into surface skin cells; gluconolactone gently lifts discoloured cells; and resveratrol, green-tea and shiitake extracts neutralise the oxidative stress that starts the cycle. Atelocollagen, chondroitin and pomegranate, grapeseed and vitamin E oils keep it comfortable for twice-daily use.

Good questions
Does it contain hydroquinone?
No. It uses niacinamide, hexylresorcinol, azelaic acid and kojic acid, ingredients that have been compared to hydroquinone in clinical studies, without its irritation or rebound concerns.
Does it contain fragrance?
Yes, this formula includes fragrance. If you have reactive skin, patch-test on the inner arm for 48 hours before using on the face.
Can I use it with retinol or vitamin C?
Yes. Use Lumera at night and vitamin C in the morning, or alternate nights with retinol if your skin is sensitive. Always finish with sunscreen by day.
Will it bleach my skin?
No. These actives slow excess pigment in dark spots; they do not change your natural skin colour.
How long until I see results?
Pigment takes weeks to cycle out. Most people see a visible difference at 8 weeks and the best results at 12-16 weeks of daily use with SPF.
