Methylene Blueprint: Methylene Blue Drops 10 mg
A low, measured dose of methylene blue, the compound that hands electrons straight to your mitochondria, in a simple water-based drop.*
An alternative route for electrons
Your mitochondria make energy by passing electrons down a chain of proteins. Methylene blue is unusual: it can accept electrons from NADH and hand them directly to cytochrome c, bypassing the first two steps of that chain. In laboratory studies this improved mitochondrial efficiency and reduced the leak of free radicals; in a randomized human imaging study, a single low dose increased brain activity during attention and memory tasks. The effect is dose-dependent in the wrong direction, low doses help, high doses do the opposite, which is why this formula is deliberately set at 10 mg.*
Energy at the level of the cell
Endurance is a mitochondrial story: how well your cells turn fuel into usable energy without drowning in free radicals. Methylene blue is interesting to athletes because, at low doses in the lab, it fed electrons straight into that chain and cut the oxidative leak. The honest caveat is that human performance data is thin, this is not a proven ergogenic aid, and we will not pretend it is. What it is: a low, measured dose for people who want to experiment carefully with cognitive and cellular energy. Read the interaction warnings first, they are not optional.*
Studied, not just marketed
The human evidence here is early and small, and we say so. What is not in doubt is the interaction risk, read the warnings on this page before ordering.

A sharper afternoon, taken seriously
In a randomized brain-imaging study, a single low dose of methylene blue raised activity in the networks the brain uses for attention and memory, and nudged memory accuracy up against placebo. For people who live by their focus that is a genuinely interesting finding, and this is a deliberately low 10 mg dose built around it. It is also the one product here with a real drug-interaction risk, so this is not a grab-and-go purchase: if you take any serotonergic medication, it is not for you. For everyone else, mornings only, and start low.*
Why Dr. Elizabeth stocks this, and who she tells not to buy it
"Methylene blue is the most interesting and the most misunderstood thing on this shelf. I use it with a small number of patients at low doses for cognitive energy, and I am strict about who qualifies. If you take an SSRI, SNRI, MAOI, tramadol or any serotonergic medication, do not buy this: the combination can cause serotonin syndrome. If you have G6PD deficiency, are pregnant or nursing, do not buy this. For everyone else, start with half a serving, take it in the morning, and expect your urine to turn blue-green, that is harmless and expected."
What to expect
Read the warnings first. Start with 10 drops (5 mg) in the morning in water or juice to check tolerance. Blue-green urine is expected and harmless; it may also stain, use a straw or glass cup.
If tolerated, move to the full 20-drop (10 mg) serving once daily, in the morning. Some people describe steadier focus within the first week.*
Stay at the label dose; more is not better with methylene blue. Stop and consult your physician if you notice headache, nausea, confusion, rapid heartbeat or agitation.
The details
Ingredients, suggested use & label facts
Methylene Blueprint delivers 10 mg of methylene blue per 1 ml (20-drop) serving in a simple alcohol-free water base. Methylene blue can accept electrons from NADH and pass them directly to cytochrome c inside the mitochondria — an alternative route that laboratory studies link to more efficient cellular energy production, and that a randomized human imaging study linked to increased brain activity during attention and memory tasks at a single low dose.*
Dr. Elizabeth Isalguez, MD, stocks it at a deliberately low dose, for a deliberately narrow group of people. Read the warnings below before ordering.
- Supports mitochondrial energy production*
- Supports focus, attention and alertness*
- Low 10 mg serving, once daily in the morning
- Alcohol-free, fragrance-free, non-GMO
⚠ Do not use if you take SSRIs, SNRIs, MAOIs, tricyclic antidepressants, tramadol, dextromethorphan, St John's wort or any serotonergic medication — risk of serotonin syndrome. Do not use with G6PD deficiency, in pregnancy or while nursing, or under 18. Causes harmless blue-green urine; may stain. Consult your physician before use if you take any medication.

Good questions
Who must NOT take this?
Anyone taking an SSRI, SNRI, MAOI, tricyclic antidepressant, tramadol, dextromethorphan, St John's wort or any other serotonergic medication, the combination can cause serotonin syndrome, which is a medical emergency. Also anyone with G6PD deficiency, anyone pregnant or nursing, and anyone under 18. If you take any prescription medication, ask your physician before using.
Why is the dose so low?
Because the research points to a low-dose effect. Laboratory and imaging studies used small amounts; at higher doses methylene blue becomes pro-oxidant and side effects rise. 10 mg is a deliberately conservative serving.
Will it turn my urine blue?
Yes, blue-green urine is expected and harmless. It can also stain teeth, clothing and surfaces, so take it through a straw or in a glass you do not mind marking.
Is this the same as pharmaceutical methylene blue?
Pharmaceutical methylene blue is an injectable prescription drug used in hospitals at doses 10-100 times higher than this. This is a low-dose oral dietary product and is not a substitute for any medication.
What does 'the safety of this product has not been determined' on the label mean?
It is a required statement for dietary ingredients that have not been through the FDA's new-dietary-ingredient review. It means exactly what it says: use it cautiously, at the label dose, and with your physician's knowledge.
